זאב (זובה) שגיא ז"ל

זאב, בן אסתר ויעקב שינברג, נולד בתל אביב בב' בניסן תרצ"ח (03.04.1938). התגורר בנחל עוז.
נהרג בפעולת איבה בכ"ד באייר תשכ"ח, 21/5/1968.

כנער היה חבר "התנועה המאוחדת" בעירו, ובחודש יולי 1956 התגייס לנח"ל, לגרעין "רגבים".
בתום שירותו הצבאי הצטרף עם הגרעין לקיבוץ נחל-עוז בדרום, בגבול רצועת עזה, והיה לחבר המשק. עבד במוסך, בתיקון ואחזקת רכב וכלים חקלאיים. בשנת 1962 נישא זאב לנירה בן-דב, כעבור שנה נולד בנם דורון וכעבור עוד שלוש שנים נולד הבן רן. ביום שלישי בערב, כ"ד באייר תשכ"ח (21.05.1968), יצאו שני ג'יפים מקיבוץ נחל-עוז לסייע בכיבוי שריפה שהציתו מחבלים מדרום-מערב לקיבוץ, בשדות המשק שבהם עמד להתחיל הקציר.

בדרכם חזרה עלה הג'יפ השני על מוקש שהטמינו אותם מחבלים שגרמו לשריפה, ושניים מנוסעיו נהרגו - חבר הקיבוץ זאב שגיא, וחייל הנח"ל משה בן-הרי. זאב היה בן 30 במותו.
הניח אישה ושני בנים. הובא למנוחות בבית העלמין בקיבוץ נחל-עוז.

Ze'ev Sagi
April 3, 1938 – May 21, 1968
The jeep in which he was traveling struck a landmine in the fields of Kibbutz Nahal Oz. He was 30 years old when he was killed.
Ze'ev Sagi, son of Esther and Yaakov Shinberg, was born in Tel Aviv on April 3, 1938. He later became a member of Kibbutz Nahal Oz.
He was killed in a terrorist attack on May 21, 1968.
As a teenager, Ze'ev was an active member of the United Movement youth movement in Tel Aviv. In July 1956, he enlisted in the Nahal Brigade as part of the "Regavim" pioneering group.
After completing his military service, he and his fellow group members joined Kibbutz Nahal Oz in southern Israel, along the Gaza border, where he became a full member of the community. He worked in the kibbutz garage, maintaining and repairing vehicles and agricultural machinery.
In 1962, Ze'ev married Nira Ben-Dov. Their first son, Doron, was born a year later, followed three years later by their second son, Ran.
On the evening of Tuesday, May 21, 1968, two jeeps left Kibbutz Nahal Oz to help extinguish a fire that had been deliberately set by terrorists southwest of the kibbutz, in fields where the wheat harvest was about to begin.
On their way back, the second jeep struck a landmine planted by the same terrorists who had started the fire. Two of its passengers were killed: Ze'ev Sagi, a member of Kibbutz Nahal Oz, and Nahal soldier Moshe Ben-Hari.
Ze'ev was 30 years old when he was killed. He was survived by his wife and their two sons.
He was laid to rest in the cemetery of Kibbutz Nahal Oz.
